TFT Screens new Classification as Hazardous Waste
The Environment Agency as ruled that LCD screens contain hazardous components, the liquid crystal substances themselves is not hazardous, but the backlighting fluorescent tubes are which contain mercury.
Items now Hazardous:
- TFT – LCD Monitors.
- Laptops.
- All in one PC’s.
- LCD TV’s.

How will this effect you, all the above items will now need waste transfer notes, and if you produce more than 500KG per year you will need to register with the Environment Agency (PC4 Recycling can do this for you).
